This paper examines the history and evolution of the Twitter discourse surrounding #darkpatterns from June 2010 to April 2021. It uses quantitative and qualitative methods to describe how this discourse has changed over time, framing it as an emergent transdisciplinary conversation connecting multiple perspectives. The discourse is marked by socio-technical angst, aimed at identifying and fighting deceptive design practices.
